let's talk about the apocalypse my whole life, someone's been saying the world is ending. the preacher tells me god is coming back soon and most days i think I'd let him. this morning i found two white hairs. my friend tells me our generation is aging faster than those before. if god comes down, tell him i'm not ready. i have plans tonight, which don't involve the sound of trumpets and he can wait an hour longer. this morning, the news said my generation will live shorter lives than our parents. if god is still on speaking terms with you, you can tell him i didn't mean to ghost him, but if he calls, i'm not picking up the phone. i'm seeing someone else. this morning, i saw our children marching in the streets. the amazon is on fire. the preacher says god is coming back soon, and most days i think i'd let him, but i have plans tonight and they don't involve the sound of trumpets or a battle. i will toss this bottle into a recycling bin, buy a few more minutes here in this life. protest a corporation, plant a few trees. take the bus instead of my car. vote. listen, if god is coming back tonight, tell him I've changed my address.
